DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Yes, acupuncture works! I find acupuncture to be 90-95% effective for most ailments.
DOES IT HURT?
Acupuncture needles are tiny compared to getting a shot. It is not very sensitive at all. Most acupuncture patients find it to be not painful
WHAT DOES ACUPUNCTURE TREAT?
Acupuncture can treat pain, lumbar pain, neck pain, sciatic pain, digestive disorders, mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia, women's health, and fertility medicine.
ARE THERE OTHER FORMS OF TREATMENT BESIDES NEEDLE INSERTION?
Yes, we can use moxabustion, electroacupuncture, herbal therapy, cupping and gua sha in the clinic.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?
I always ask patients to try a few treatments before they make up their mind if its working for them or not. Usually it is a series of treatments before acupuncture can correct an ailment.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?
Regular daily activity on the day of acupuncture is just fine. Try to do any water activities before acupuncture. Do not try acupuncture on an empty stomach.
WHAT TRAINING IS REQUIRED TO PRACTICE ACUPUNCTURE?
Sharon has a 4 year graduate degree in Oriental Medicine. This was a degree in holistic medicine. This is not something that you just read up or do a couple weekends of study and begin placing needles in people. It is rigorous study and a real medicine that truly works when applied correctly.
HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Acupuncture is comprised of 12-14 main meridians that run through the body. There are deeper and more superficial meridians that come from the main meridians. Together these meridians are connected and cover the entire body. We find the diagnoses according to Oriental Medicine and then choose the correct acupuncture point prescription and herbal prescription, if need be, to fix the ailment. It is working with the deep energy of the human body. Western science describes acupuncture as bringing blood blow to the area and healing aspects to the local area but acupuncture is energy medicine and works in that way.
